Top Highlights

Adelaide Central Market

Operating since 1869, this heritage market houses over 70 traders under one roof. Named the No. 1 food experience in Australia, it's a vibrant hub of fresh produce, gourmet foods, and multicultural flavours.

Barossa Valley

Just an hour from Adelaide, this world-famous wine region features approximately 150 wineries and 80+ cellar doors. Taste century-old tawny wines at Seppeltsfield or enjoy hot air balloon rides at sunrise over the vineyards.

Kangaroo Island

Australia's third-largest island is a pristine wildlife sanctuary home to sea lions, koalas, and echidnas. Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch are stunning geological formations carved by wind and sea over millennia.

Adelaide Oval

One of the world's most beautiful cricket and sports grounds, set between the River Torrens and Adelaide's parklands. The RoofClimb experience offers breathtaking views from 50 metres above the hallowed turf.

Festival City

Adelaide comes alive during festival season, with the Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Fringe (the second-largest arts festival globally after Edinburgh), and WOMADelaide (a world music festival) drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each March. The city also hosts the Santos Tour Down Under cycling race, Tasting Australia food festival, and the Adelaide Film Festival throughout the year.

Wine & Gastronomy

Adelaide is surrounded by 18 wine regions within an easy drive. The Barossa Valley, with its 150+ wineries including historic estates dating back to the 1840s, produces some of the world's finest Shiraz. McLaren Vale offers a more intimate experience with vineyards meeting the sea. The Adelaide Hills feature cool-climate wines alongside artisan cheese makers and organic orchards. In the city, the East End and Peel Street are dining hotspots.

History & Heritage

Unlike other Australian capitals, Adelaide was founded as a free settlement — never a penal colony. This heritage is reflected in its grand Victorian architecture, wide tree-lined boulevards designed by Colonel William Light, and cultural institutions like the Art Gallery of South Australia (housing the country's second-largest art collection) and the South Australian Museum, known for its world-class Aboriginal Cultures collection.
